We have unfortunately had to say goodbye to Bueno Aires after an interesting but amazing 4 days. To say the least we definitely got to see various sides to the city. Arriving on the first day to what seemed like the dirtiest and unfriendliest hostel of my life, where the people working there seemed to be auditioning for some sort of horror movie. So the first thing we set out to do on the next day was to find ourselves an alternative, which we did, thank goodness!! Now after the second day we felt slightly more settled into this big and confusing city. Nice new hostel and friendly people. Of course in good old Jess and Becky style we went on a fun Pub Crawl with our hostel and some local Argentinians and in true Argentinian style, apparently, we got home at 7am! We tried to see and do as much as we could in the short amount of time, including a good old steak that literally melted in your mouth with a delicious Malbec wine. The highlights of the trip from the second to our final day were definitely the San Telmo street markets, the botanical gardens followed by the zoo, the Cemetry filled with extravagent tombs and that of Eva Peron, the main Plazas and last but not least the port, Puerto Madero. The hardest part of the trip was adapting to the people, especially men, staring at you as if you had something wrong with you. We really enjoyed BA but still a bit confused by the city! Now we are in the north of Argentina in Santiago Del Estero staying with a friend for a night. The 10 hour night bus journey here was the funniest experience. Full on seats that reclined into beds with a pillow and blanket. We then got served dinner, mash and chicken, wine and whiskey!!! We were then woken up this morning to a jam tart and crackers!! Bring on our late 11pm dinner tonight! :)
