Left a rainy rainy Hue and travelled futhur south to Hoi An. Really pretty little place, old buildings, French bakeries and a thousand tailors and shoemakers to meet your every clothing need. Also here, rain! So much so the river had flooded the riverbank and bridges. So spent time, and money, getting clothes made instead! We laughed at the tailor who said our hotel would be flooded the following day, it was miles away! But...sure enough the next day we were knee deep in water wading through the roads around our place.
Managed a trip to my son, ancient ruins, with an interesting coach ride through flooded roads.
Left and tried to escape rain in Nha Trang, a busy beachside resort. Donned my summer wardrobe, and rain poncho as here it was worse than anywhere. So induldged, in a very non-backpacker way by going to a mud spa. Sampled the nightlife and then headed to Mui Ne, futhur south along the coast.
Each hour passed we seemed to leave rain and gain a bit of sunshine. Mui Ne = sun = a very happy Anj and I. So naturally stayed here for a few days, saw sandunes, and a lot of sun loungers.
Next stop was Ho Chin Minh City, or Saigon. Back to the busy motorbike madness and trips of museums and palaces. Then met the Truongs in Vietnam. Headed to Vinh Long and met a plethora of Anjulies family, experiencing true Vietnamese hospitality. Saw a lot of the Mekong Delta, rice and a whole lot of river. Ate more than ever in my life! After a few days headed back to the city and then a couple days down at the beach. Last days of sunshine before heading back to the cold English winter.
