Retired & Traveling
This morning began really early since we were entering the Panama Canal. I woke up about 6 and it was really light outside and the ship was maneuvering into position. I went for a walk on Deck 7 just so I could see what was happening. We are on the starboard side of the ship, which ended up being great because the ships heading in the opposite direction were right next to us. We were also in the shade and that was also great because it was HOT!
We first entered the Gatun Locks, which was a series of three locks. Pam and Mike had found a perfect place to watch, which was on our floor (11th) at the very front of the ship. We watched for a while from there, but the sun was shining on us and we finally gave it up to watch from our balcony. The tv in our room was also showing the front view, so we didn't feel like we were missing much.
The whole thing is just amazing to watch! Rich and Mike went to a lecture and heard it costs over $300,000 for this ship to pass through the canal!! We finished going through the first series of locks around noon and were on the lake for quite a while. We basically just hung out in our rooms watching and taking pictures of it all. We also found the on board laundromat and did a load, it's been a whole week of vacation already. Costs $6 to do one load, for the washer and dryer. The place was crowded, guess everyone had the same idea.
We missed getting to see the Bridge of the Americas and Panama City because we were at dinner and then we hustled into the Princess Theater for a show. The headliner was a guy who did comedy and magic together, he was quite entertaining, Lorenzo Clark.
We found out we are gaining yet another hour tonight! I'll be waking up at 3:00 instead of 4:00!!
Pam won a pen with jewels on it from the Effy store!
The internet connection hasn't been working for several days, weak at best. Hopefully it will stay strong for a few days!

Kathi Hybart I was hoping you could find an emerald, but no luck, huh? Earrings would've been good :)
