Retired & Traveling
Our ship docked right by the port terminal so instead of walking around on the 7th deck for exercise, we got off and strolled around the shops. It wasn't even 7:00 am yet and they were all already open!
We met up w Mike and Pam and walked all over Mahogany Bay exploring. After returning to the ship and eating breakfast, Rich and I left for our tour. We had booked an encounter w/the dolphins and scenic drive. The drive ended up being us in a minivan thru the poor section of the island which was kind of depressing! We arrived at Anthony's Key Resort, which was where we were able to see the dolphins. We caught a small boat that took our group over to an island where they keep the dolphins. It was an overcast day which made for some very cold water! They had us enter the water as a group of 8, then the dolphin would swim past us so we could stroke her. Her skin felt very smooth and chilly at first but the longer your hand was on her, the warmer she felt. The trainer had her do tricks and it was amazing how fast she was. She "kissed" us all on the cheek and we got to actually "hold" her, which was very cool. Our dolphin was a teenager, according to the trainer and she didn't always do what he wanted her to do, which was pretty entertaining. They had a professional photographer making pictures that they later tried to sell, so we couldn't get much of the dolphin with our own camera because of this. Kind of frustrating but I guess it's to be expected.
We caught the first van heading back to the ship so we could meet up w Pam and Mike in order to go ziplining. This was a little different than what Ashley and I did in Alaska--we had to brake ourselves on several lines, which ended up being easy but was nerve wracking at first! We did 13 platforms and I was exhausted when we were done. So much fun though, and we were glad it was overcast then--if it had been a sunny day, it would have been uncomfortably warm.
After a quick shower, it was time for dinner. We had the same waitress that we'd had the night before, Zanne from South Africa. She was a lot of fun and it was Italian night, so they were all dressed up like Gondoliers.
We took in the Princess Theater act and then called it a night.
