Another day chilling here in Marrakesh!
This morning we really wanted to go Dirt Biking because we saw an ad for it at the info centre yesterday, so we asked our Riad manager if this could be arranged! He said it could! So after a little bit of gift shopping in the souks we met the taxi driver at the Riad and headed on out! Sadly, after driving for about an hour, we came to the Dirt Bike place to be told it was not running today! What a BUMMER! we booked for the next day though, and our Taxi driver ( who was the coolest person EVER!) took us for a tour around the suburbs of Marrakesh, which was actually a very different interesting place to visit! We saw sheep on the side of the road, women doing washing in the dirt, kids, again playing soccer.
Once thing to now about Morocco, is that there is no grass. ANYWHERE. Just Dirt. Dirt and trees popping out from the middle of nowhere! Its pretty cool!
Anyway, after our tour we were dropped off back at the Square, where we walked down a very touristy street full od resturants. We found one that was right on the rooftop and we loved it to bits. The place was full of couches, lounges and big fluffy mats. It seems here they want people to fall asleep in all the cafes because thats what all the comfy chairs suggest!
We chose moroccan again for lunch, I had cous cous and Tim had a Kabab, which is not like Ali Ba Ba, is the actualy meat! We had a long lunch again, and watch as two kittens played around at our feet ( are cat sacrid here in Morocco? Because we see them EVERYWHERE.)
We wanted to see a famous Palace after this so walked there. After only being lost twice, we found the place and went in.
It was HUGE, went on for ever, room after room of gory mosaic floors and carved ceilings. Lots of open courtyards with fountains. It was very cool and I would have loved to live there! After a long wander though the palace it was time to hit the Spa!
Its the thing to do here in Marrakesh, and although i have been before, Tim had never been so it was pretty exciting!
We first had a tradional Maroccen " hammam" where we went in a Sauna and had an exfoliation rub and clay mask on our bodies. The exfoliation was amazing you could feel layers of dead skin coming loose from your body! After this we headed into another room and had an AMAZING one hour massage! I wish would have been longer though!
Very relaxed we floated out of the room and back to the Riad, changing for our last night here in Morocco. We went to the fanciest Moroccon resturant in the town which was brilliant! Every table had a huge gold candle stick in the middle and plush sofas to sit on. There was live music and at one point we were treated to a belly dancing show! It was great and included a woman who held 12 candles on her head!
Dinner was spectacular! Although we had tried the dished we had before, in this place they tasted even better! After a huge dinner and a show we wandered back to the hotel. Sad that we were leaving tomorrow, but feeling so lucky that we were able to enjoy this place for as long as we did!
