So this morning I didn't wake up until 8:30 or 9 which was nice. I started out by stopping at Carmel and then heading down to Big Sur. So weird...all this stuff by Santa Cruz (where I lived for 5 years) that I never even knew about! I drove along Highway 1, which is always a great view. Then I stumbled upon Pfieffer State Beach, which was really pretty. Then I headed to Santa Cruz and stopped at Erik's Deli and Cafe. I've been wanting to eat there for ages. They have the best sandwiches ever and they are only located in Northern California. Tomorrow I will be going to get my shrimp burrito. I drove around Santa Cruz for a while. It's definitely weird being back...on the one hand most things are familiar, but on the other hand some things are completely new to me. And I keep getting lost, which bugs me. For some reason on certain roads I really want to turn, so I turn and dunno where I am going. Eventually one time I figured out that I was in front of my exes house cause that's the only time I was in that part of the neighborhood. I didn't even realize it until I ended up there. I had to use the GPS to find Kate's house, which kinda irritated me cause I've been here so many times! Then again it's been 4 years since I've been here. It's really good to see Kate. I'll be staying at her house for the next few nights. Luckily there is some kind of wifi here (not hers cause hers has a password and we don't know what it is) so I don't have to pay for Internet at Starbucks or anything. It's good seeing her dog Bella too. I remember when Kate and Tony first got Bella and she was so tiny! She reminds me of Raina a lot...more her attitude than looks. She runs back and forth and loves her toys, just like Raina. Tonight we are going downtown to a chocolate place and then tomorrow we are going to Tony's work to eat and I'll see an old co-worker there who I haven't seen in a really long time. So we just got back from the chocolate place. Apparently it's pretty new, but I give it a few months to catch on. It's a gourmet chocolate restauraunt. What's not to like? I got a white chocolate hot chocolate. It comes in a small glass which is really misleading. It's so rich that you can't even drink half of it! I can just see myself in a month from now melting a white chocolate Hershey's bar in a glass and adding milk to try to recreate the hot chocolate. It was that good. We got a chocolate sampler. It was pretty good, but one of the white chocolate truffles had rosemary. It wasn't bad exactly, just really unexpected in a truffle. Then we went to Borders and I got a book, which is always good. It's called Twighlight and Kate says it's really good. It's part of a series and it's about vampires, so I bet I will love it. Tomorrow I am gonna hang around Santa Cruz again and then Friday it's off to San Francisco.
