Watch out world the Barkers are coming!
After all that excitement of the Pantanal, we headed back out to a
proper road again, got a bus to Corumba near the
Brazil/Bolivia border, and spoiled ourselves with a
three star hotel...hot showers and all!
After a good nights sleep, on a proper bed, we were supposed to be getting the train to Santa Cruz in Bolivia, but the guys we booked
with never showed up. So after some running around we
decided to make a dash for the border, El and I had
trouble getting our passports stamped because we
didn't complete the border formalities properly after
our trip to Argentina! Whoops, but with a charmming smile and pleading gringo ingnorance, we convinced the guy that it was the policia's fault and he stamped our passport and away we went!
it was a mad dash through the border as we needed to get the train at 430 (currently 420) and some how we beat the train...then we were told that the reciepts we had could not be exchanged for tickets, and we didn't have enough cash to buy more tickets!
After some deliberation we decided to go back to Brazil and give the guys we booked with, some serious grieve, Gringo style!
BUT, just as we sorted out a taxi the ticket office lady called me over and
in my finest SPANGLISH i worked out that our tickets had been booked therefore we had places oin the train. She had to fone the fat controller to hold up the train which we eventually got on, with out having to
pay extra, and now here we are in Bolivia. WOOHOO!
WE're in Santa Cruz now and we're off to La Paz (the
worlds highest capital) at 5pm (19hr bus ride) for a
bit of altitude sickness and shopping for warm
clothes.
Well i hope everyone is well?? we are both really
good, and el is beating me on replies to emails, so ya
lazy b*****s write me back let me know whats going
down where you are!
Much love
