No we didn't win and win again in Vegas! We last visited Las Vegas ten years ago at the end of our honeymoon. We decided to return to walk the entire strip - something we did not manage to do the first time around due to intense heat. I managed to get us into the Desert Club Resort for a ridiculously cheap price. The mini apartment allowed us to enjoy small luxuries such as a sofa, cooker and our own washer/dryer. We were in heaven and made the most of having a little home for a couple of days.
Viva Las Vegas is what it is; the hotels are impressive, the people watching is fascinating, surprising, shocking and at times a little sad. Fun for a short while but not a place I could stay for very long as at the end of the day it is very fake and lacking in soul. Stuart and I must be one of the few who have now been to Vegas twice and not lost a cent. We are more than happy to watch the other suckers gamble away their hard earned cash - our conclusion is that there is only one winner in Vegas!
We do enjoy the shows. Ten years ago we saw the 'Blue Man Group' which you should all go and see if you get a chance - word of warning don't turn up late! This time round we opted to see Rita Rudner a famous American comedienne, writer and actress. This was a laugh out loud kind of a show including some real belly laughs that bring tears to your eyes. One of my favourite lines related to identity theft - in Rita's opinion if you steel someone's identity you should at least have to visit their parents twice a year! It was a fab night.
During our walk of the strip we took a detour to one of the huge malls as the time had come for me buy a bikini in preparation for our trip to Fiji. Don't worry I won't subject you to photos! I know I'm no longer the 14.5 stone chubster that I was ten years ago but I do still have a wobbly bottom and well-rounded thighs making this a stressful shopping purchase. Stuart as always was very patient as I set about trying on an entire shop of swimwear and immediately rejecting all but one which I am still not completely certain about!
On the subject of weight, a number of people have noticed my rapidly shrinking husband. Stuart has dropped 4 inches from his waist and is looking great. I am very proud of him - and a little envious because I have been on the same trip, walked the same walks, even added in a few additional gym sessions and have lost diddly squat!
The title of this blog relates to one of my favourite songs. Returning to Vegas got me reflecting on the very happy ten years we have been married. Last year was a challenging one for me but Stuart was always there to support me. To quote the words of Robert Miles brilliant song:
"After all is said and done, one & one still is one, when we cry, when we laugh, I am half, you are half……I love the one we are"
Here's to the next ten Mr Chips!

Lisa and Neal Hi Karen and Stuart. Sounds like you are having a great time - and rediscovering each other again away from the pressure of work. I am so jealous! (especially as I have just finished yet another Essentials). I thought about you both yesterday when we were watching 'Eat, Pray, Love'. I cant believe you are losing weight / staying so trim despite all the good food - its not fair. Best wishes, Lisa
