Landed in Calgary at 8:30pm (3:30am UK time) and it is taking us a while to adjust to the time change! Staying at the Radisson for a couple of nights - we thought we would ease ourselves in gently! After demolishing a massive bowel of porridge that even Goldilocks would have struggled with, Stuart and I located the bus stop and made our way to downtown Calgary. First impressions are of a calm, quiet and very friendly City. We spent the day exploring which included a beautiful walk along the Bow River and through Princes Island (see pictures in the album). Food seemed to be the feature of the day as we willingly participated in a vibrant and lively 'taste of Calgary' open air market. We experienced a variety of Canadian delights with the highlight for me being an Alberta Burger (quite literally bolognaise in a bun!).
Today I have learnt that Calgary is Gaelic for 'Clear running water' and that the squirrels here are black in colour! I was very excited to see my first real gopher, they look nothing like Gordon but entertaining all the same as they bob in and out of their little holes!
Happy Birthday Matthew B we hope you have a good one.
Congratulations big Sis on the much awaited exchange - enjoy your camping in Cornwall.

Liz Lakin All sounding great! Good place to start. The Markets were all good when I visited Canada so hope there's lots more. Can't remember an Alberta but I was probably overdosing on too much maple syrup. Not surprised Goldilocks didn't fancy a bowel of porridge.... X
Stuart Liz - I think that you did see a lot of Alberta (at least in the distance) as it is three times the size of the UK and contains Bannf, Jasper, Calgary, Edmonton etc.. Go to the back of the class.
