5 th & 6th - Venice
The 5th of October otherwise known as Meca's Birthday. After arriving in Venice and disembarking the cruise we took the water bus into Venice. After checking into our hotel, we wound our way through many little Campo's (little squares) to find Piazza St Marco, we also found a place that would have cost us 30 euros for 2 cappuccinos, we then went through Basilica di St Marco before having lunch at Piazza Ducale. We then went for a romantic gondola ride through the some of the smaller canals. We then found our way to Ponte di Rialto, one of the more famous bridges of Venice, where we found it to be a little to touristic ( no surprise I guess considering they get 20 million tourists every year) so we crossed the Canal Grande. We walked around Basilica di St Maria before ambling our way along through the streets surrounding it that were full of cool little artistic shops, with photos, glass works and funky sculptures. We then followed the Canale della Giudecca along before heading up to see the churchs and the surround piazza's of Chiesa di St Giovanni Evangelista and St Giaconio doll'Orio. We then attempted to find a romantic place for dinner, well after a 2hr walk in the attempt to find something that was firstly not Italian (I'm surprised we don't look like Pizza's) and that was romantic, we ended up at a cute little Indian looking right over a cute little canal. We spent the next morning walking through some more of the amazing glass shops and picking ourselves up some little souvenirs. We left Venice in the afternoon to head to Slovenia.
