Hi ya!!
Well if Sout Africa was slightly disappointing, Australia has more than made up for it already! Laura and I met up on Dec 1st at Cairns, picked up our little campervan and hit the road. I flew in from Perth, via Brisbane and Laura had just spent nearly 3 weeks at Kath and Ron's in Dingley Village, Melbourne, where she was treated to all the local (and not so local) sights.
We've been travelling down the Bruce Highway and made a few stops so far. Airlie Beach one of the infamous spots to go out to the Great Barrier Reef so we did that on Wednesday and it was AMAZING! We had a huge Catamaran that took us out to Knuckle Reef (outer reef) and spent the day out there at a lovely pontoon with a water slide, glass bottom boat, under water observatory AND a Heli Pad! So Laura and I had a flight on a chopper over the reef. It was absolutely breathtaking. We then had ourselves a gourmet lunch then snorkelled right up to the reef seeing the most amazing fish and coral.
Since then, we've stayed at another 4 or 5 places down the coast and have got as far as Hervey Bay but it would seem that everywhere we stop there is a beautiful, picturesque beach around every corner and every camp site has a gorgeous pool with great facilites....Sorry to sound all so perfect, but it really is!
With the average temperature being around 38 degrees too it's just one long holiday so far. The first night we had to buy a Fan as it was actually toooooooooo hot inside the campervan but is all sorted now. Was actually a bit cooler last night,,,,,,,,,,,so we had to turn the fan OFF!
Anyway, the sun is still shining outside so we don't wanna have to stay in a cool, air conditioned room for longer than we have to.
Keep sending the messages.....
Jo & Laura xxxx
