Included in some Kiwi Experience packages but not all, the Cape Reinga trip takes you to the most northern point of New Zealand you can go. Which is pretty cool.
Jump on the bus pretty early on and start heading up. We took eats to save money but you stop off at a cafe and shop where you can buy some if needed. The guides seem pretty clued up on it all, giving you loads of info on all the Maori culture and history around then and now.
You stop for a walk through a forest introducing you to the ginormous Kauri tree. Then head up to the north, its pretty cool being at the top, seeing two oceans meet and being able to see both sides of the island. Beautiful surroundings and views add to the greatness. There's an unmanned lighthouse there too but its tiny.
Even if you find all that culture and history boring you still get to take the bus on to the beach to drive along the ocean, possibly see some sea creatures on the way. Before heading to the sand dunes to do some sand boarding. Grab a board, run to the top(easier said than done) and launch yourself down. Pretty fun and pretty exhausting. Could make for a good Gopro video, if in the right place and not filming the sky. Ahem :/
Good trip pretty much a full day so you get your moneys worth. Not you cant stay over night at Cape Reinga as it is sacred ground.
