Backpacker Stuffs
So, I'm pretty much scared of anything and everything - flying, heights, rocks, falling, critters, people... everything. But the adrenaline push of New Zealand obviously took over for 20 s...econds when I booked the Auckland Bridge Bungy (Again..on BookMe for $89 instead of $199...How could I afford to not throw myself off a bridge??) My theory being, if I'm going to do it..doing it into water will hurt less if it breaks...right???
So off I went, and what an experience!!!! The staff were UNBELIEVABLY good!! You get picked up outside the Maritime Museum and the driver chats to you along the way, you get to the bridge and the staff are so friendly, getting on your details and then you get harnessed up, I was made to feel safe the whole time. They spoke about the fact AJ Hackett have a 100% success rate (And I quickly did the maths...if i'm jumping with 4 others now, there's 4 slots a day, that's 20 people a day minimum jumping which means there's a lot of people in that 100% who have survived!!)
I don't know how they pick which order you jump in but I was last. Starting to watch people jump off, I felt SICK. I was a sobby teary mess but the guy just talked me through everything and because they make you feel safe I decided to trust him for 20 seconds of my life.. and it was the best decision ever because it is AMAZING!!! The feeling off falling with an eary silence and then the relief when you feel the cord kick in, followed by the strangest sensation when you reach zero gravity on the first boing, and the pride you feel in yourself is incredible. I get why people do it. Completely.
They also don't push buying the photos or DVDS which I like. (But I did buy them cuz they are frikkin awesome!!) Oh and you get a free tshirt. Bragging rights.
100% recommend a bungy with AJ Hackett and if your really really nervous like me and a bit of wussy mouse - Auckland Bridge is def the one to jump off!!
