After the rainforest canopy trek we headed onto Sukau and a boat trip along the Kinabatangan River. Pitching up in a random village we organised the tour for the following morning. First day of the road trip took us around some amazing mountain drives. First big stop was the highest mountain in Borneo, Mount Kinabalu! The peak of the mountain was covered in thick cloud but still an impressive sight, we drive up as far as we could and had a look around the view point. Arrived in the capital for the start of the Borneo trip! Small town in comparison to the rest of South East Asia and easily to navigate by foot. Just a stop off before heading around the island, got some really nice Malaysian food from the night market. Very different to the other South East Asian food we had eaten so far and really good! Rented a hire car on the second day and set off for a week road trip around the island!

Last stop after a month in Vietnam in the capital Hanoi. Found a great little hotel for £3.80 a night including breakfast! The small things keeping you happy, it also had a comfortable bed, black out blind, air con and a TV with some western stations! Had the best sleep in weeks!! Just one full day in the capital, we spent it touring the city on foot. Visited the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, the war museum, French colonial prison, the city lake and a few local place...

Sapa... What a stunning place! A small town with European influence in its buildings, dropped in the middle of some of the most impressive scenery we've seen in Asia, or anywhere, so far. Mountains, hills, waterfalls and rice plantations are all around. We set about seeing it all after hiring a few mopeds for the weekend. Combine the scenery with small local villages occupied by local tribes and it was an amazing few days exploring! Tourism is taking its toll ...
