OMG!!! Wow the Grand Canyon is like nothing I have ever encountered, pictures just don't do it justice, the colors, vastness and constantly changing scenery is breathtaking. We checked out of Vegas early and drove to the Hoover Dam which is a very impressive art deco piece of engineering. We walked the new bridge over the Colorado river which gave us a great view back at the dam wall, it was a bit scary looking down hundreds of meters into the river. We then drove over the dam wall and looked back at the new bridge which was cool too. After the dam we motored on towards the grand canyon, stopping in a town called Williams for lunch which was ok, a few dodgy characters in town. We kept going onto the canyon, when we arrived we pulled over at a viewpoint and walked over to the edge and when we saw the canyon all three of us just went 'whoa!' it is the most incredible natural structure ever it is soooo amazing! We walked the rim a bit then drove onto our lodge which was also on the edge of the canyon. The whole place is quite unspoiled, only lodges and dirt trails so you really feel amongst nature. We took a walk along another part of the rim for an hour or so, stopping at many viewpoints which gave various different perspectives of the canyon. We then had a local grand canyon brewery beer back in our lodge the grabbed dinner which was pretty good. On our way back to our rooms after dinner we saw two raccoons scavenging around in the bin which was funny. We crashed so we could get up early tomorrow.
