I wondered this morning, after barely any sleep, if it was all just a bad nightmare. But no, we were not waking up in our little home on wheels and yesterday's events were a stark reality on the morning after. We spent a lot of hours last night talking through our options, wondering what would happen next and planning what we needed to do. This has also been very difficult for Cadbury, who has had to sit tight and go through all of this with us. And dogs sense ...

What a day today has been. There are no words to describe how we are feeling at the end of a very long and traumatic day. We left Grass Patch early this morning, around 8.30am heading to Esperance, which is only about two hours south. We didn't even eat breakfast before we left, thinking we would get something once we were there. It should have been a smooth and easy drive, leaving us plenty of time to look around Esperance and get to our chosen location to camp...

Left the sports ground where we'd been camping overnight in Norseman around 10.30am and headed off to see some lookouts around town. We were impressed with the nearby lookout above the Norseman Goldmine, which is still a working mine today. Norseman and the surrounding Dundas Shire has a rich gold mining history going back over 100 years. We then explored some nearby salt lakes which were incredible to see as they spanned both sides of the road and went for miles...

Left our lovely spot in the bush quite late today but we knew it was going to be a day of driving until we reached the end of the Nullarbor. Other than stopping for lunch at a rest stop, we passed the day by listening to an audio book - The Rosie Project. The landscape seemed to be changing all the time, becoming even greener with more trees as we neared the end of the Nullarbor Plain. Finally we arrived in Norseman around 4ish and made our way to the free cam...

Woke up this morning to find we were the only people camped on the edge of the cliff. All the other caravans had moved on by 7.30am. Great feeling to be alone on the edge of the cliff to enjoy the remoteness and the sunshine. Made pancakes for brekky so we can use up the last of our fruit before crossing the border. Headed off around 11.30 and enjoyed the surrounding Nullarbor. It certainly wasn't the 'nothing' that you hear about. And it's greener than you thin...
