Hi all have finally got on the internet again unfortunatly the photos wont load up on here as java doesn't seem to work!!
We left chiang mai in the evening on the 8th of may to get the night bus back to bangkok where we stayed for the day to wait for our bus to the south.
The buses have good seats that can lay quite far back. But they are impossible to sleep on! they play films till about 11 o clock and then switch off the lights to sleep, but stop at a services at about 12 so they wake you up again (thats if any one had managed to get to sleep) and then it arrive about 3 so we were pretty tiered when we arrived at bangkok and found a cheap hostel and booked in and went to sleep for a few hours! We then went out exploring khoasan road as we hadn't been to this area of bangkok, its stall after stall selling t shirts, street food , sunglasses, well just about anything and is full of tourists!
We got on our bus to the south around 6 or 7 o clock, again its the same scenario as before where you cannot sleep! then the bus dropped us off in the middle of know where at around 3 o clock in the morning with just a small restaraunt open. Nobody knew what was happening! so we waited around for about half hour. Then a cattle truck pulled up to take us to the port!! Everyone was jammed in so much that 2 people had to hold on to the back and a guy lost his flip flop...not the best way to be travelling! but i think this is the usual for thailand!
The ferry didnt leave till seven in the morning so we had a four hour wait at the ferry port which isn't the nicest place but they were playing films so we just sat and watched those, other people tried to get some sleep.
After a choppy ferry crossing of around 2 hours we arrived in Koh Tao!!!
We got taken to the dive centre by one of the crystal representatives and got checked in! we decided we would start the course the day after as we were pretty tierd!
So we headed to our bungalow and got a few hours kip and then headed out in the little town o explore and get some food.
Day 1 of diving we didnt need to be at the classroom till around half 12 which was nice so we just had a relaxing morning, we all then got split into groups or around 4-6 in our group there was 5 but another girl joined our group the day after jacob, lucy, micheal and us.
All we did was watch videos in an apprentice style boardroom classroom and do work from the padi book it was a little dull!
Day 2 we were taught how to put together our equipment and then headed to the pool to learn the basics and safety elements such as taking of our masks, clearing water out of the masks and sharing somebody elses regulator if you run out of air.
Day 3 We did 2 ocean dives which were amazing we saw loads of fish a schol so big that it looked wall
Day4 we did our last 2 dives again were really good and they filmed our last dive which you could buy but it was about 60 or 70 pounds but if any one is intrested in buying it i think you can on the crystal dive website somewhere!
We both decided to do the advance course, which was reallyy good we got to go deeper and do a night dive and on our last dive we saw a turtle you could get so close to it you could almost touch it and it didnt mind that you were there it just carried on eating away!!
We had a few nights out with the people from our course once for a nice dinner, and then when we had completed our open water they show the films of the groups and everyone went out to celebrate,it was a really fun night and we ended up at a bar called the lotus bar which had a fire show on!
After we finished the advance diving we headed to koh phangan ready for the full moon party!! it was about a 1 and a half hour boat ride which was on a much nicer ferry then our one to koh tao!!
More updates from our adventures of koh phangan to follow
