We have arrived in our favorite city in the world! During my our last backpacking trip, we had stopped in Munich and enjoyed it so much, we knew we had to come back. This time, my parents and sister set us up with a nice hotel room as our wedding gift. The room and the hotel are so nice and the extra space and AC are a welcome reprieve from some of the places we have been staying.
Since we had been here before and done most of the "touristy" things before, we set our mission to have a beer and the six traditional breweries of Munich. The night we arrived we knocked out our favorite, Augustiner at the Augstiner-Keller beer garden and worked our way over to the historic Lowenbrau Hause. After that we called it a night and returned back to our hotel and went swimming in the pool.
The next day, we went and had a traditional bavarian breakfast of pretzels, white sausage and wheat beer at the Weisse Haus, were the same waitress that we had 3 years ago waited on us again. From there we knocked out the other four breweries - Spaten, Heckler-Pschorr, Paulener, and Haufbrau. In the middle of our brew tour, we stopped at Munich's open air market and bought some soup for lunch. All in all, we had about 6 liters of beer each before 4 PM. Needless to say, we stumbled back to the hotel and took a little power nap. We woke up and walked to the Heckler-Pschorr brauhaus to have dinner and get another beer.
This morning Ashley was not feeling well. Not hungover, but actually sick. It started setting in last night and got worse as the night carried on. We tried to go get breakfast at a place that served the different pancake types from around the world, Mr. Pancake, and went to get a beer at Lowenbrau again. We are trying to collect coasters from the "big 6" so we can make a cool mount to hang on our wall, and we did not get Lowenbrau yesterday. She was still feeling bad so we came back to the hotel so she could rest. It sucks she isn't feeling well, but at least it happened while we have very comfortable accomodations. While she slept, I watched movies and worked on the plans for the rest of our stay. After she got up, we capped our final night in Munich at another Augustiner beer hall to finish things of right.
Tomorrow we head for Salzburg, Austria.
