Before leaving central LA for a night of camping in the Santa Monica mountains, we went for lunch at a health food café (very necessary to give our bodies a break from all the burger fat!) and then a stroll along the boardwalk at Venice beach.
While it is a beautiful beach and you can watch some amazing amateur basketball matches there, the most surprising 'attraction' to us was the medical marihuana hype and all the weird hippie/reggae inspired stuff that comes with it... think Amsterdam centraal area 10 years ago.

But good to see that Venice's physicians know how to priorotize...
we saw about 10 practices along the boardwalk, each staffed with some enthusiastic young people in weed green suits, trying to sell you licenses...
We felt that all the excitement was a tad over the top - but of course we live in the city that boasts 'pusher street' in Christiania ;)
