Today was spent mostly visiting the various temples in Siem Reap including the Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm (the temple were Tomb Raider was shot). These were fascinating but it was so hot it felt like your skin was melting. The temples were so gigantic that I thought the entrance gate was the main temple.
After the first two temples we went for a traditional Cambodian lunch, this included an appitser of ants which did not taste too bad.
After lunch we preceeded to another three temples but spent less time looking round these as we were all templed out! The temple guide we had was entertaining as he spoke pigeon english and laughed at all of his own jokes. Nonetheless he was still really informative and we were glad to see these must see sites of Siem Reap.
We concluded our day trip by visiting a floating village. Obviously everyone in the community lived on boats and the village was made up of about 400/500 families. On the way the two decks hands (both between the ages of 7 - 10) gave us a questionable massage. In exchange for a dollar they agreed to stop! When we arrived there were kids floating in washing up bowls and young children approached us with snakes round their necks! I sharply moved to the back of the group! We took a few snaps and then our tour guide could tell it was going to hammer it down so we jumped back on our boat and headed to a hammock bar for a beer and some fried prawns which were very good.
Later on we went for an evening meal on the aptly named Bar St. The food was good but the drinks were better and by the end of the night we were all pretty drunk.

Today was a bit less hectic which was good due to the number of thick heads. We spent the majority of the day driving to the cambodian capital, Phoen Phem. This city was less attractive then Siem Reap but it was still good to see the capital. We arrived at our hotel in the evening and after our evening meal where we tried another local treat called morning glory (which was similar to cabbage / spinach) went to a pool bar for a drink and a dip.

Even though I had only had the odd beer the night before I still woke up feeling pretty rough. Another 7 1/4 months of this is going to end me!
We started the day by visiting the Tuol Sleng Museam which was deadicated to those who were massacared in the Cambodian Genocide. This was quite a sombering experience and only got worse when we visited the killing fields a few hours later. Bones and clothes of those who lost their lifes still remained in the fields and there was a disturbing silence amoungst the group on the bus to the Russian Market where we had lunch and a shop. The markets are good because you can barter to about 30 - 50% of the starting price but they stink and are hard work.
We had a few hours downtime so I befriended the local Tuk Tuk drivers and played a game of "Si" which is similar to hackysack but played with something similar to a shuttlecock. I ended up accidentally kicking the roof of the Tuk Tuk and hurting my foot, luckilly the owner found it hilarious and did not care.
For dinner we went to the guides, who'd showed us round that morning, house. I dont like to say it but the house was in a slum like town, he had the biggest house but it was a bit of a mix of materials and he shared it with 30 other people (him being the main breadwinner). However his and his familly's hospitality was fantastic and the food was the best we had eaten to date. The guide had also prepared us some spider rice wine which was basically a 30% spirit with trantulas in the bottom of the bottle. I had a few shots and they went straight to my head.
After saying our goodbyes and exchanging a few nominal gifts we aimed for a recommended bar. This was however closed so we went next door to a bar called Heartbreakers. We walked in and thirty asain women rushed out the back - uh oh! However we stayed for a drink and were highly amused people watching. I braved it and went to the toilet being careful not to look behind any of the curtains on the way down. We left fairly promptly after and ended our evening with a drink on a boat on the river called the Titanic!? As we had had a few no one cared about the name so we preceeded onboard sharply.

You guessed it - hungover again! Today was another chilled out day. After a 4 hour bus ride to Sihanoukville we had some lunch and headed to a private beach, which was lovely, for a dip and a sun bath. Being the typical Brit abroard I had to go free in the sea! No one complained to badly so it was fine. We polished off a few cocktails before going to a local resturant for a BBQ and beers.

Today was the day I had been looking forward too since the start of the tour. We were heading out on a boat trip to an unhabited island for some snorkeling, fishing, a BBQ and some booze. The water was clear, I caught some fish, the beach was paradise and the food and beer was good so all in all this was a fantastic day out.
In the evening we had food and drinks on the beach and by the end of the night were all the drunkest we had been.

A day of travelling did not bode well today as we were all hanging! We had a 4 hours travel to Chau Doc in Vietnam and it was exceptionally hot. Don't know if it was the hangover but started to feel homesick today and wasn't the cheeriest gapper in the group.
We had our evening meal and then went on a bike tour (as a passenger) round the city. We tried some local beer and bar snacks being rat and bat (neither of which were too bad) and were then forced to the local kareoke bar by our tour guide. Obviously I was awful but still belted home swing low sweet chariott. A relatively early night went down very well!

Woke up feeling loads better and looking forward to the rest of the tour. An early start followed by a long days travel to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, cleared my head and cheered me up. We had an awesome lunch at the most awesome motorway service station I have seen and continued our drive. We arrived late afternoon and after a quick look around the local market before getting drenched in a thunderstorm.
Today was changeover day so welcomed new gappers and said farewell to new freinds over a splendid well priced meal and beers. We hit a bar after but it was a rip off and a bit of a nightmare due to their organisation
