Not too early a start this morning, but early enough.
We decided to start the day with a boat cruise along the Brisbane River. The cruise went east of the city, towards Newstead, and then turned around, back towards Southbank. It was lovely old boat, with great commentary from the crew. We enjoyed it very much.
After the cruise, we headed into the city, and had lunch, again at the Central Station Hotel. More delicious food!
Just a short walk across the road, to Brisbane City Hall, which is a fabulous building, built during the 1920's and opened in 1930. It was completely renovated in the original neo-classic, Art-deco style only a few years ago, and is absolutely beautiful. We had a quick look at the museunm on the top floor, and then had a 45 minute guide tour through the building. The highlight of the building is without a doubt the copper-domed auditorium.
Then Craig went off to collect Harvey from his mechanical repairs, and Lisanne and Mirne walked towards a taxi stand, but were diverted by the very beautiful Brisbane Arcade. This arcade is a beautiful example of Art-deco architecture and gorgeous stained glass windows. Truly stunning.
Then in a taxi back to the hotel, for Lisanne to get ready for her flight later this afternoon/evening.
It's been lovely having Lisanne here -- we've enjoyed our travels with her. We hope to see her again soon, whether here in Oz, or in Europe in NL.
Today was a balmy 27 degrees in Brisbane. Amsterdam is expecting a top of 13 degrees on Friday.
