After a 5h bus ride, I finally arrived in Margaret River.Ben, the manager of the hostel kindly picked me up at the last minute to drive me to the hostel. That's when it began to go down.My stomach started being painful but I still decided to go to town and go grocery shopping.I thought I was going to die there. I felt worse and worse every minute, and finally asked Ben to come and pick me up as I knew I couldn't walk back. Then I spent the rest of the day in bed, thinking I was dying. I hate being sick !!!! (who doesn't ?) I wasn't even strong enough to watch a movie !The beginning of my stay in MR started with 16 hours in bed :(
Fortunately I started feeling better the next day but I decided to stay at the hostel and plan the rest of my trip as I still didn't have a plane ticket past Singapore. That's when I booked my ticket for the Philippines ! Cebu was gonna be my next destination and I was gonna go from there and follow some friends advice and go with the flow, something I have never done before.Scary !
The day after that lazy day was december 30th and Viviane, my roommate was going around a few wineries and wanted to visit a cave so we agreed to go together and I'd give her money for the gas.
We visited a cave called Lake Cave. An impressive stairs took us to the entrance where a guide was waiting for us. It was an impressive cave with massive formations but it wasn't as big as I expected. Still it was amazing. Then Viviane, who appears to be a wine maker, drove us to Voyager Estate. Not drinking wine and their market to being towards France, I had never heard of them but it is certainely a massive winery ! There's a massive garden there, even a rose garden and a vegetable garden. A was well taken care of ! I did taste a couple of wines but only because I was there because I wasn't that impressed by a wine at 70 AUD a bottle :/
The second winery (Leuuwin Estate) was massive too but the main building not as much. What draw our attention was the 2 big choppers outside. No tasting for me there. I only took a few pictures and waited for Viviane.
We then decided to go to the beach. It was full of kitesurfers and windsurfers but due to the conditions for these guys, no surfers. It was soooo windy we only stayed about 10 minutes before going back to the hostel.
The next day, NYE, I went horse riding. The place was nothing like shown on their website and it wasn't even a good ride. It was therefore not justify to pay 95 dollars for a 2h ride ! Not at all !!
After more planning in the afternoon we got ready to go out. We actually started drinking at the hostel because a guy had been put in our room (a female only room) and the manager gave us 2 beers each to appologies :)
Our NYE party was pretty odd.It was boring at first but then we somehow joined a group in their funny drinking game and it all started from there. Another guy started talking to me then Viviane got to talk to some other guys, we went back with the group and finished our party time with them around 2am.The band that had been playing before finished around 12.30am and the DJ's music was very lame afterwards.
On New Year's Day we went for a walk and lunch in MR. That was an easy day before we left on the 2nd. Viviane gave me a lift back to Perth. We stopped in Busselton to walk the jetty. The longest wooden jetty of the southern hemisphere: 1.8km. It started off with 146m but it got longer and longer as the sand got more and more present along the jetty.
After dropping my bag at the airport I spent the rest of the day at James', Kerry's nephew that I met in Tincurrin over Christmas. He was kind enough to let me stay at his place and even drove me to the airport at 1am. My flight was only at 6.40am so I didn't have to spend my whole time there. A few hours later I was in Singapore...
