We rode for about 20kms out to Rio Plata, via Quelhue. There were workmen working on repairing but passengers have to be unloaded to walk ahead on foot; once they are clear of the bridge the car will follow. The bridge had to be repaired as much of the wood was rotting away. As we were walking across on our bikes, the workmen replaced a couple of the planks so that we could walk across the narrow gangplank, the large gaping hole into the waters below alongside.
