I'm slacking with my blogs! I've been so tired though! Our day at the temples was a very long day. We were up at 4.15am to be on our way at 5am with our tuk tuk driver for the day, Lee. Our first stop was the famous Angkor Wat for sunrise. It was quite exciting arriving in the dark (with plenty of other people) and seeing the dark towers looming but the sunrise was pretty rubbish. Angkor Wat itself wasn't as big as I expected either, plus some huge green scaffol...

We arrived in Siem Reap last night following 3 hours sleep to get up at 4:30am to board the 5:55am hot and uncomfortable 6 hour train to the border. There we had to battle with people claiming they were the official Cambodian immigration (on the Thai side?!) where our tuk tuk tried to drop us off and then people saying you could only get a visa on the Thai side, plus lots of kids who will apparently try to snatch your things or pick pocket you given half the chan...

Today we took the train to Lopburi, which the locals call 'the town of monkey's. Every February the town puts on a banquet for the monkeys that run wild in the old town and hang around the ruins, waiting for tourists to feed them. I'd seen a photo of the monkeys just strolling around on the pavements so when we got out of the train station I was a little disappointed that I didn't see one single monkey. So I kind of forget about them whilst we ate, thinking maybe...

We reached Ayutthaya yesterday via a 6 hour bus, but a really good bus compared to what we're used to! It's final destination was Bangkok though, so they nicely just dropped us on the side of a motorway. Cheers!!! A guy tried charging us £4 to get into town in his 'taxi' (a pick up truck) which was a definite joke so we had to cross the motorway(!) and wander around for about 15 minutes until someone finally showed us the place to get a bus from. The bus cost 40...

Today we headed to Old Sukhothai, a world heritage site of ruins which is 12km from where we're staying in New Sukhothai. We hired bikes for 50p each and off we went. There were loads of ruins with a main site holding the most impressive collection set out in a beautiful coconut palm tree park with regular moats, lakes and ponds spread out. There were 3 other sites as well but after 3 hours of cycling round on a rare scorching day, we didn't want to pay another ...
