Hi everyone! On the road again and we're in Melbourne. We've done sooooo much. First of all we hit Surfers Paradise to get some pictures up Australias biggest tower. Then we drove to a place called NimBin a little hippy village in land. It was soo different and a really nice drive to get to. In the same day we then headed for Coffs Harbour, along the east coast. By this stage we entered a new state. New South Wales. Coffs was nice, very very quiet. Our hostel was nice. We went out for a drink in the only place to drink and it was cheap enought. Next day we went Whale watching, which was awesome! Althought I felt pretty sea sick and couldn't fully enjoy it. Pictures are pretty good.
After the Whale watching we headed for Port MacQuarie. A lovely wee place further down the coast. A fair drive away from Coffs but again the drive was nice. Saw wild Wallabies which was pretty cool. Port MacQ was really nice seaside town. Loads of nice little eats (altho we couldn't afford to eat in them, haha) and buildings. Took a walk along the harbour to see if we could spot Dolphins but no joy. The harbour was lovely, loads of stones along it and people are allowed to design them anyway they wish. Pretty cool idea!
After Port MacQ we drove to Sydney, a long drive! And our car made it more to the point! The place we stayed in Sydney wasn't great, but it was in the middle of everything which i guess suited us. Did the usual, drank, sight seeing, walking and public transport. Parked our car at the main train station and racked up about $100 in fines, haha! I liked Sydney, it was dirty and busy all the time but I like busy after Brisbane.
The next drive wasn't that bad, Syndey to Canberra. Canberra I can say it rubbish. It's empty, loads of big huge empty spaces, not worth going to. Full of memorials and history. We went to a few places of interest but nothing great. Hard to find places to stay in Canberra due to business meetings always taking place here, so we drove a bit out of the city to find somewhere.
Only stayed one night and got up early early next morning and started our drive to Melbourne (800KM) we had only driven about 120KM when, after putting petrol in the car, it decided to BREAKDOWN in the middle of a huge highway. IN a place called Jugiong. Which had a cafe, petrol station and one motel. We were there for 4hours and it cost us only $120 to fix. Delayed us loads though. Drove the rest of the day untill 11pm when we hit Melbourne. SO tired we just checked into a cheap hotel until we could find a hostel.
Stayed in a place called St Kilda, a lovely little suburb outside the city. Trams are a popular way of getting about here, and apparently no1 pays so we jumped on board loads without paying.haha! Had a drunken night out on Friday and a lazy day on Sat followed by a day of sight seeing on Sunday, along with an AFL game in the MCG grounds. Huge 100,000 cap! Biggest grounds i've ever been in. Game lasted a painful 2hours! zzzzzz.
We woke up this morning (monday 13th July) only to find our beloved car had been towed away! :( we parked in a no parking zone and forgot to get up at 7am and move it. Its gone for good! Lucky we cleared it out of all our stuff the day before. We collected our camper today to drive the rest of oz. Watch for more photos! :) x
