Hi Everyone. Well what a day it was yesterday.
We got up and checked out of the Hilton at 5:45am. I was looking all tired and messy. I hear this clatter and look to my left and up the walkway of the Hilton come two, beautifully dressed lady boys. Very tight dresses, long hair, very high heels and lots of make up. They were looking for someone in a hotel room. I felt quite dowdy standing next to them. The front desk girls were trying not to giggle.
Anyhow checked out of the Hilton and went of to catch the boat to Phi Phi Island. Nice big boat, 3 story high. It took about 2 hours. We hung our legs over the side and watched the world go by.
The sight off Phi Phi was stunning. Huge mountain cliffs, white secluded beaches and blue blue clear water. We jumped off the boat and headed for the nearest food outlet - ie a hotel. So Cal could eat again. He has certainly got his appetite back. We decided to do a 3 tour of Monkey island by longtail boat. it included swimming and snorkling. Only Cal, Shane and i on the boat. Stunning. There are lots of photos that Shane will upload tonight, as the boys have gone on another snorkling tour.
We stopped at this huge high cliff secluded bay and were told to jump in and have a swim. Shane and Cal were diving off the boat, i just slid in elegantly... The water was warm and crystal clear with millions of colourful fish swimming around. We spent about 1/2 hour there, i think it was a test to see if we could swim. Oherwise we would have to wear life vests when we snokel. We did not want to do that.
Next was off to another high cliffed secluded bay for the snorkling. Our guide chucked in some bread and thousands of colourful fish came from everywhere. We jumped in with our snorkling gear on. The beauty that was under water was astounding. Brightly coloured fish everywhere. Dominic and Tarlei i saw Nemo swimming in and out of the rocks. Actually loys of Nemo's The coral was huge. there were large caverns to explore and enormous cracks in the ground that you could dive into. Not me off course as i haven't mastered blowing out the water yet. Cal kept popping up nd asking Shane what everything was. He loved it. Which is why they have gone out again today. We snorkled for about an hour and then headed of to Maya beach for another swim and a beer for Shane. Eventually we got back to Phi Phi. Exhausted. Had about a 1hr wait for the boat to take us to Ao Nang. Cal fell asleep on the outside of the boat. This german man was a bit concerned that he would roll off into the ocean. We weren't so worried as he has been asleep in some very weird and precerious places lately.
Got to Ao Nang about 5pm. Amazing place, huge rocks just sticking up out of the ocean. Big caves, clear warm blue water. Quite surreal. Just like the photos on Google.
We jumped off the boat and a Taxi driver said "you want Taxi to town - 200baht". i said ok. so off we went to his Taxi. It turned out to be a motor bike with a sort of side car. He stuck our 3 large bags in and Shane, Cal and i. it was hilarious. Shane has a good photo. He took us to our Hotel,or so we thought. Who would guess there were 2 Hotels with the same name in Ao Nang. Once we realised we were at the wrong Hotel the Taxi driver had gone. So off we went with bags in tow, clumpity clump, trumpity trump all the way up the mountain. Wasn't to far, but we were hot and tired by the time we arrived. Had a big swim and Shane had a beer as well.
Next morning (Sunday) Shane and Cal headed off on a snorkling tour of Hong Island, by long tail boat. They will be gone all day. I decided to do a Thai cooking course for the morning. Had a great time. You can have a look at the photos the school took of us all. [email protected].
Learn't to cook Red and Green Curry, Chicken Coconut soup. Chicken and Cashew Stirfry, Spring Rolls, Papaya Salad and Sticky Rice and Mango. All from scratch, no bottles here. Had a great time and am very full now. Which is why i am writing this blog, trying to give my stomach a rest.
Well think i will go for a swim, as it is about 35oC here and i am feeling a bit full and tired. Shane promises me he will put all of the photos on tonight. Tried to yesterday but the internet Cafe was full.
No doubt Shane and call will have lots to write about from their trip today.
ok see you
Janie
