Woke up stupidly late. Finally bought our octopus cards, and tubed it to central on the extremely long mtr train!
Made it to pier 6.. Ferry to mui wo, Lantau island.
We took the slow ferry, and after a shop fail in mui wo we found ourselves with no choice but the last bus to the po Lin monastery.
So we took a quick stroll on the beach before the bus arrived.
A crazy bus driver and an even crazier ox in the middle of the road almost ended in disaster.
We eventually made it to the monastery and big buddha.. Prayed to Buddha and took the cable car back down to tung Chung. Some amazing views here. Sam had some pooing issues on the squatting toilet in the monastery haha..
Mtr from tung chung back to causeway bay to meet Vinci for dinner at the police club.
Vinci took us to the police officers club, on the harbour just infront of the sky scrapers.. Amazing location and views, it even has a pool!.
Met her parents and sister, and had a quick tour with her father before sitting down for dinner. Beer, and a wide range of foods.. Sweetcorn and fish gall soup, sticky ribs, Cantonese chicken, beef curry, Chinese mushroom veg thing, and more. The manager gave complimentary dessert, red bean soup.
Really fun meal, and lovely family. We even got a pen as a gift from vincis dad.
Next we walked to causeway bay with Vinci and her sister, with a few shopping distractions and a tour of the markets we headed to a dessert place.
We also tried bubble tea!
Anyway dessert place we had a water melon thing, grass jelly and ice cream, sesame black thing with tofu cake (weird and makes your hair thicker), durian fruit pancake (which was green) very unusual taste but not too bad. We also had some chewy ball things, served warm with peanuts over them.. Pretty nice!
We learnt how to direct a cab to our hostel.. Just say patersan gau in a strong Chinese accent haha
We got dropped off in wan chai (by cab) and took a stroll in the bar/ red light district before coming back to the hostel on the mtr, putting the octopus to good use.
The hostel rooms air con is broken! And we are left with just 2 fans to keep us cool tonight until it is replaced tomorrow! :(
Otherwise a great day, thank you to Vinci and her family, hope tomorrow is just as good!
