Hip hip hoorah! We received a call around 11h00 to say that Mabel the motorhome (or Reggie the RV) was ready for collection.
Thanks to the magnificent packing excel spreadsheet created by Jules, we loaded up the Tiguan safe in the knowledge that no essential had been overlooked!
We hit the open road of the E411 south to Luxembourg at around 16h00 and had a fun first 200km run to our first campsite. The beauty of being in Mabel meant we could stop en route at one of the many rest areas for a wee wee in our very own luxury toilette. Maggie, it scores 10/10!
After arriving at our site up in the hills, greeted by some lovely sweaty young men, we parked Mabel up for her first overnight stay. We unpacked in the sweltering heat which made us a bit ga ga...well Colin anyway. After connecting the huge long cable to the electricity post, Colin couldn't work out why we didn't have any electricity (reminiscent of the May camping trip...). Jules found the manual pre-prepared by the hire company and opened it on to the page where it shows photos of how to connect the plug to the van and hey presto! That worked! He had left the van plug on the floor - d'oh!!
So, with the fridge now connected to the mains, we settled down in our new reclining chairs, knowing the wine was safely chilling!
We sat and had a nosey at the other new arrivals and their RVs, allocated to the overnight motorhome area. Hats off to Colin for only having two attempts to park up, as opposed to Reginald Molehusband next door to us, who finally did it to his family's satisfaction in four attempts!
Goodnight Luxembourg, tomorrow Switzerland.
