Our start to this journey was not off to the best one!! Flight was delayed by 6 hours and my face was a mess from crying so much haha...good luck...On the plus side it did help me sail through the custom part in Australia when they nearly made me chuck out some of my toilettries that were in the clear bag as they were over 100ml, one look at my blotchy swelled up face and they said "no worries on you go"...done!
Eventually got on the flight, knackered from very little sleep...few hours passed and we landed in Kuala Lumpur. What a dump of an airport. Smelly and boring with nothing to do so when they announced a 1hour delay on the flight I jumped for joy! Few hours passed and we were on our next flight to Bangkok. This flight was very nice...apart from the cloud of white smoke tumbling out the top of the plane! "Nothing to worry about" I was assured...and off we went. I prayed we would land safely and clearly my prayers were answered. We arrived at Bangkok at about midnight - the airport is massive and confusing. Eventually got our bus to take us to the hotel - which was super posh, shame we hadn't arrived in the afternoon like we were meant to and we could have made full use of all the posh/free facilities...straight to bed we went as we were up in 4.5 hours for our next flight!
Got up after feeling like I had been asleep for 5 minutes, went to the airport, checked in and for once our flight was NOT delayed...finally!! Boarded our plane to Koh Samui and before we knew it we were landed. Stepped off the plane to a smack in the face humidity and my hair took off. The tiny airport is so cute, we got on our bus which then took us to the "ferry"...the ferry was wooden, had about 20 life jakcets and 200 people on board! Good start i thought...then the waves hut...up and down we went for a good hour and a half...horrible! I don't normally get sea sick but I wanted to to vomit everywhere right there and then - thankfully I did not.
After a super long journey we finally arrived at our luxurious palace - Palita Lodge which is on the Haad Rin beach which is where the Full Moon Party takes place!! I wouldn't recomend this beach UNLESS you are goinng to the full moon party, it's quite dirty due to all the parties and drinking that take place here - not quite paradise as you would think, but I was told the other beaches around that island were white beaches...
The first night we thought would be a quite one since the riot would have been flying for a few days - how wrong i was! They arrived about 8pm, banged on my door and followed with lots of hugs, screamning, laughing and myself and jill trying to understand what the hell they were saying!! Very strange to hear scottish and very broad scottish accents after so long - after an hour or so we were speaking like them again!! We all went for dinner at our hotel - I couldnt believe how cheap it was my meal was amazingly good and cost less than 2 quid this then followed with a lot of cocktails and then we ended up on the beach with many a buckets, we danced, took lots of stupid pics, bargained with the stalls for cheap cheap buckets - be aware if they sell it to you cheaper make sure you open the bottle of whatever you are buying yourself, i seen a few being open from behind the stall which had already been open and was most ilkely NOT vodka...
We headed back to the resort to find Shona had filled up her gigantic bath tub, and died it pink with her hair, so of course we all jumped in and then matty emptied his entire mini bar into his pillow case and then into the bathtub!! Me and jill headed back to the room about 7am...tired..wet...and cold! The hangover that followed a few hours later was not a pretty one and I did not make it out of bed...
Day 1 Completed!!
