Venice was beautiful! The city was amazing. There were so many alleys and squares. It's true, you have to get lost in Venice to see it for it's real beauty! The costumes from Carnivale were amazing! I couldn't leave without masks. I might have gone a bit over board, I got 4 masks before I left and they all look different.
We took public transportation, like we always do, and for this trip that consisted of a LOT of boat rides...I don't like boats!
We stayed on Lido which is the long island off of Venice at a bed and breakfast. The best part of the B&B was the price, especially since it was during carnivale.
Be warned: most toilets in Venice don't have toilet seats, just like in France. So frustrating!
So many people were dressed up as different things it was breath taking and mind blowing. One of the best parts was seeing 2 guys dressed as priests being told to leave a church by a priest! I don't know what he was saying, because he was speaking Italian, but he did NOT look happy! At another chuch on Sunday a small group of people and a priest were holding service as tourists took photos. One tourist used their flash, even though there were signs that said not to. The priest YELLED at the person "NO FLASH" and then shook his fist at the person. It was pretty funny.
Venice was interesting because you feel like there is so much to see, yet it all looks the same, so it's a bit overwhelming.
All in all the city was beautiful, the costumes were amazing, and the company I was with was awesome(my mom).
