Mom and I went to the zoo today and it was so much fun. Many of the animal habitats are natural looking and feeling.
We first found this bird area, it was all water birds like sea gulls and funny water birds with long legs, but they were small birds. Then we found a duck pond, and a large eagle type of bird.
After we left there we walked around and found so many amazing animals. A shrew like rodent in the "Africa house" that was all by himself because the zebras and everyone else were out in front of the building not in their cages. He had a funky nose but he was so cute.
We saw the zebras out in the larger area, mom did zebra-a-logs, because one zebra was leaning his head on the building. The story mom came up with was that it had a hang over. Lol
Then we found what would turn out to be our favorite area which was the sloth and small monkey habitat. You walk in and there are two 2-toed soothes climbing around on branches and over hangs right above your head. You could touch them, but you shouldn't and no one does, not even small children! The small monkeys in there were awesome. While mom was taking pics of the sloths, she loves sloths, I was watching the monkeys and taking pics. As i was taking pics of two of them, one walked off, but it saw me and climbed the branch over to me and got on top of the canopy over my head, then he proceeded to look down at me! It was so cute!
After that we found a kind of box full of things for bees to live in. Across from the bees was some owls. We kept walking and found a building with rats, thanks but I can see those in America for free. Lol.
We saw the another building and apparently it had some type of weasels in it, one was spastic and going nuts, I felt bad for the poor guy.
We saw some flamingos, but I'm not big on those. We found macaws, I'm used to those guys. Next to the macaws was a lemur, he was crazy too, he was running all around his cage, when he saw a work truck go by he jumped on the cage door like, "hey you forgot to feed me, and this head of lettuce isn't cutting it!!!!!!" lol
We went back the way we came because we thought we missed something, when we found a map we realized they had RED PANDAS!!!! And we had just missed them, they were by the lemur, so we went back, I had to see the red pandas!!
I was disappointed because I couldn't see them at first then finally I saw one in the tree. I kept hoping it would come down but it didn't then I saw another right above it. I didn't care if they came down or not after that, I was just excited I got to see a red panda, and not just one, but TWO!!
We then saw more monkeys, then we found the gorilla house. It was cool to see gorillas that close. They had a silver back gorilla, chimps, Orangutans, some more small monkeys, and other gorillas.
Unlike in America where they don't tell you about poaching, Germany doesn't just have a sign talking about, they even have photos. It was disturbing and sad.
We went to watch the sea lions for a bit, the water looked so nice I wanted to join them.
The lions, actually looked sick, so that was disappointing and sad.
Near by were some pierre dogs, they were so cute, and they watched us walk by. By chance we found a building that had what looked like empty habitats, but near the back we found meerkats. Mom also loves meerkats, they were running around and seemed go be posing for pictures.
We also found a sleeping tiger, that sounds like a movie title, by chance as well.
After the tiger we realized that we had walked through the entire zoo. It was a nice couple of hours. I wouldn't mind going back, maybe I'll get a better look at the red pandas next time!
