We checked in Britz headquarters first thing in the morning, a worker checked out our motorhome and we showed her all of the damage which earned us a compensation from then which was a consolation of some sort. I have to admit it wasn't too overly emotional farewell due to the falling parts but I was bit sad to see it go.
We all got on the plane to Fiji after the usual procedure of checking in and we were amazed to see staff dressed in flowery shirts and saying Bula all of the time. Bula is Fijian for Hello and it is a word that we all were set to see a lot for our stay in Fiji.
It was a short flight to Fiji, when we arrived, the temperature wasn't too insane but all of the staff we met were very friendly and keep saying Bula all time. Some of the men staff even wore a skirt which is a Fijian custom. We got a taxi which was paid for by our hostel which was great.
On the way to our hostel, I had an opportunity to see some of Fiji and based on the first impression, I was actually impressed because the roads were quiet good; there is no sewage smell that I was expecting from a second/third world country. The houses weren't too shabby as well but the poorer neighbourhoods are usually hidden and you would have to go off the beaten track to find them so I think I will reserve my judgement of the real Fiji until couple of days in.
We arrived at our hostel, I could have been forgiven for assuming it was a mini sanctuary for animals because within minutes of checking in, I saw cats, dogs, geckos lounging around and creepily enough, I even saw a grave for an animal. The hostel was nice and we all were delighted to see a real bed.
We went out to withdraw some cash for our stay in Fiji because we were informed that our next hostel in Beachhouse is in middle of nowhere and doesn't have any ATMS nearby. We had a look at a local supermarket and worked out that whatever the price is, divide it by three to work out how much it is worth in British pounds. The prices were similar but Fijian goods are bit more cheaper.
We went back to our hostel where I had chilli chicken with rice for the dinner which was delicious. I also had two beers and paid about 30 dollars (10 pounds in England) which is cheap. It is also normal in Fiji to get wet scented mini-towels during the meal to dab our foreheads with because it was usually hot in Fiji, We all then went to bed.
