Stayed in a resort called Mui Ne Hills - It had 3 swimming pools, a huge room and overlooked the beach. The wind was strong on the beach, it was nice to be able to cool down! The waves were massive because of the wind - done a fair bit of body surfing. There were a few kite surfers around - that looked amazing. Going to have to try that!
We hired a motorbike and went to the white sand dunes. They were huge and tiring to walk round in the heat, so we rented a quad bike for half an hour and rode up and down them (well, tried to). We slipped on one of the dunes and almost slid into a lake (i say we, I was driving so it was purely my fault!). Great fun though!
On the way back we stopped at the red sand dunes, as we heard you could slide down them on sledges. It turns out that the sledges were actually a sheet of plastic, and they didn't slide. We also spent half an hour looking for the bike key in the sand, to find I had left it in the ignition (due to being flustered when haggling with numerous people all trying to rent us the 'sledge').
We stopped off a few times on the way there and back to check out the clean private beaches and the fishing village. We had to pull over to avoid being stampeded by cows. The motorbike broke down for a while. A local helped us fix it, then tried his hardest to sell us marijuana. I have quickly learnt that nothing is for free in Vietnam, every time someone speaks to you or gives help etc, it's for a reason!!
We spent the rest of the time chilling by the pools or on the beach, completely different to Ho Chi Minh City! There were loads of Russians in Mui Ne, and loads of Russian shops, bars and restaurants - that seemed pretty random.
After a few days, we took a 6 hour bus to Da Lat. The minibus was awful, I think a child would of struggle for leg room! It didn't help that people were also sat in the aisle between the seats. The roads were terrible, but a large part of the journey was through the central highland mountains, so had some amazing views.
