Oooohhh... lucky youse! Two updates already!
What a day we had yesterday! Oh my god! Well I was in two minds whether or not to go white water rafting. Jd and I hadnt budgeted for it as neither of us thought we would want to go, but everyone else in the team was... so after much deliberation (more so on my part) we decided to go for it. I was pretty undecided until yesterday morning. Was crapping myself! So was Jd, but he was really excited about it.
It was a long day. We were in the water for about 7 hours, with a lunch break in between. So it was pretty hardcore! We learned how to raft first, and what to do when it flips (which was definitely going to happen as we were doing grade 5 rapids). Grades only go up to 7 in the world, so the rapids we tackled were quite intense. We were definitely put through the wars. I have a huuuuge bruise on my leg to prove it.
It was absolutely amazing but very scary. It didnt help when we were completely thrown from the second grade 5 rapid named Big Brother. We flipped quite early which was awful as we then got thrown about like ragdolls through the rest of the rapid. Thats when i hurt my leg... I was thrown into the rocks. Plus it was scary when we were all frantically looking around for each other. I got in a panic coz I couldnt find Jd, and he got in a panic coz he culdnt find me.
Last rapid was called The Bad Place... enough said really!!!
Well, at the moment we are on our way to... eh... we cant remember the name of it. But we are in a shopping mall in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
We will be camping tonight and then heading off to Kisoro tomorrow. We will then leave the truck in Uganda and get different transport into Rwanda ad will probably be seeing the gorillas Sunday/Monday. But hey, this is Africa... nobody knows!
Umm.... not sure what else to tell you guys. Sorry we cant put up photos yet... I either keep forgetting to bring my camera and cable, or the computer doesnt have the connectiony thingy.
Hope you are all well. Mum (Jacqui), I hope you are ok!!!!!!!!! Love you. xxxx
Take care everyone and we will be in contact again soon. Next chance will probably be in Rwanda as on the day that we dont do gorillas we would like to travel to Kigali and visit the genocide museum, so im sure i will find the internet again.... but hey.... this is africa... nobody knows haha
Lots of love and kisses.
