Dear all- sorry for the lateness of our first post, as you can imagine we have been VERY busy!!

On arrival, we were both smacked by the heat- its very toasty here!!! The cab drivers have no idea where they are going and drive like speed is going out of fashion! Our first hostel was nothing short of revolting. I think we both wanted to get on the first plane back. Typically our first day was spent on Copacabana beach- hot again and not so pretty! We then checked into our current hostel which is amazing! ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE, clean sheets and great location! Our second day we went to Ipanema beach which was beautiful and amusing! we were serenaded by local teenagers and made evening plans with the local lifeguards who were b.e.a.utiful! The perception of Brazilians being skinny and beautiful is not quite correct. beach was full of whales in thongs! oh and the speedos- not flattering!

Saturday night we went to a local club with our new buddies from the hostel which was so much fun! Behaved slightly like we were in Atlantis on a wednesday night- the locals were shocked by our dance moves and straight arming beer!!

Yesterday with severe head aches we went to watch a football game which was awesome! great vibe- highly recommmend! Today we are off to see the Christ statue, Sugarloaf mountain and all other touristy bits! Last night in Rio as we are off to Ilha Grande tomorrow (google it- total paradise) so we are sure tonight will provide many stories for our next blog!!
