Monday morning we caught the bus after much deliberation about which company to go with ( the ticket was just under 3GBP which is the cheapest transport so far!) to Mui Ne, a beach destination where Ash was hoping to kitesurf. The journey was pleasant and we even got given a bottle of water and hand towel which was a bonus. We did however encounter another sick incident but detaisl will be spared! After a 5 hour journey we arrived in Mui Ne, the sun was shining, the wind was blowing and we were both excited about the prospect of having a beach for a few days after the hustle and bustle of Saigon. We walked along the road abit before hitching a ride on a moto to our next "home" Mellow Bungalows. We already felt relaxed and within an hour Ash had a kite in his hand and was on the water. This place is kitesurfers heaven! I lazed on the sand watching hundreds of kites in the air and enjoyed just being for a while. I could get used to this....
The next day we spent doing pretty much the same, lounging around on the beach and soaking up the atmosphere. On Tuesday we had Chris join us, a really nice guy we`d met in Luang Prabang who arrived from Nha Trang with two other nice girls Maray and Leonie. We spent that evening chilling and playing cards in the local bars. This place really does put you in a state of ultimate chill out and all of us felt so relaxed.
On Wednesday we decided to book a trip to the local sand dunes and with Maray leaving and Matt (another nice guy we met from Laung Prabang, Chris's fellow traveller) joining us, we had a good group of 5. Off we set in our jeep for the afternoon, first visiting Fairy Spring. At first it was abit random as our guide dropped us off in a local spot and told us to walk up the river and be back in 40 minutes! After walking for a while we then spotted other travellers and realised it wasnt such an odd request after all. Walking amongst the rock formations was great and a good chance to have a good old chat! We then headed to the red and white sand dunes which were nice as well as the fishing village before heading back just after sunset. Again, another relaxing evening chatting over a few drinks. This is the life.
We are going to stay here a few more days, fingers crossed the wind picks up so Ash can get in the water. In the meantime im just happy with my book feeling realxed in this little town of calm. Ahhh, this is definately the life!
