Hello 2011! We had a pretty late night getting to bed around 2am after a hectic journey back from Milsons point. Dont think we've ever seen that many peeple trying to catch a train! With half the day gone we decided to jump on a bus and head over to Bondi, one of Australia's most famous beaches. The sand and water were both packed with hundreds of people chilling after the previous days celebrations so we didnt hang around for long, took some pictures of the pavillion and surrounds before heading over to Watsons Bay.
Watsons Bay is a definate place to visit for those heading to Sydney. With much less people milling around we enjoyed fish and chips from the famous Doyles before lazing under a tree gazing over the water to the city that lay in front of us. We decided to catch the ferry back, a definate favoured form of transport as you get to see the harbour from so many different angles. The evening was then spent wandering around Darling Harbour whilst we enjoyed our pack up we`d made with left overs from new years eve. The joys of being a traveller!
During our last day in Sydney we decided to wander around the Olympic Park taking in the sites of the ANZ stadium and famous Aquatic centre which is supposedly the fastest pool in the world. We were really impressed with the whole site with some interesting Olympic memorobila dotted around the place. We didnt have time for a swim having wanting to catch the bus up to Palm beach (Home and Away setting) so off we headed back to the city. Two hours later we arrived at Palm beach after meandering up the cost past some awesome beaches on the north cost. The weather however had taken a turn for the worst so we literally stepped off the bus for 15 minutes before climbing back on! After another 3 hours and a bus crash later we finally arrived back to a raining Sydney. Not quite the afternoon we`d planned, bus journeys always turn out eventful for us! At least it wasnt a sick note.
The evening made up for the journey as we met up with Chris and Matt, the lads we`d met in Asia and we had a great evening swapping travel stories and talking about the time we have left. Alex and Aled also joined us which was nice and as we waved goodbye to everyone we were starting to feel a little sad about leaving Sydney. A great way to start the year 2011.
