December of 2012- My 2nd internationational destination was in Bangkok, Thailand. This time I was with my previous workmates/colleagues. Mind you, I don't go on expensive trips, I prefer backpackers style. It doesn't need to be luxurious because all I wanted is the experience and the joy it brings me and the people I'm with. I don't need to go to a certain place just to sleep the whole day in an expensive hotel room, it sucks! really. If posssible, one should roam around town, discover strange places, and smile at the end of the day because you've accomplished it, that's the essence of it all.
During this tirp, we were looking for a promo airfare ticket and a budget friendly accommodation (it's a must, really). It's really good, if it's coming out from our pockets, our labor and hardwork. Before the trip, of course we need to saved up and sacrificed a lot to our excitement.
We're a group of ladies, 4 ladies so to speak. Trying to be brave! haha
As we landed the Suvarnabhumi Airport, we were shaking and excited to see such a wonderful place! We needed to get a cab asap to get to our place because it was already 12:00 a.m. when we arrived at the airport, kind of scary but we were safe though. We went to Cozy Bangkok Place our hostel, it's a quaint, comfortable place to stay, most backpackers stayed there as well. The landlady was really cool. People were very accommodating and friendly.
Thailand is not really pricey at all. The food is affordable yet delicious. The Tuktuk drivers were warm and can be trusted, they had that certain smile, it's a way of saying "hey!, come on, hop on" but not in a bad way haha (tuktuk is their means of transportation) it's just like a tricycle or pedicab here in the Philippines. The weather is fine, it's a bit warm but not really scorching hot :).
During our first day there, we really need to taste their authentic Thai street food and dishes. They have that distinct aroma and smell, one of my workmates didn't like it (probably because of the strong smell). And the rest of my workmates were making fun of her, that it's really good, eat more haha. Nah, I think it's just about taste preferences, but me and my 2 other workmates liked it, it's about enjoying the taste and just adopt to it, it's not really bad at all. Moving on, we went to the city attractions and clothes shops. Chaktuchak and Prattunam were one of the famous places to go when you shop for clothes at an affordable price. (good for wholesalers and traders). Actually, one of my workmates bought a lot for her online shop in the Philippines.
One of the main attractions in Thailand is their temples and museums I love the peace and solitude it brings the environment. People really value their culture and tradition. We went to the temples in Bangkok and we traveled by train in Ayutthaya, it took us 2 hours to get there from the City. We were really fascinated with the wonderful temples. I, myself love to see old ruins and preserved historical spots. Hmm, so much to say, but it was really a great journey and we went back home in the Philippines safe and sound. I'd love to go back there one day and discover more interesting places. :) The 3-day trip was not really enough. Haha.
