Day 121 Saturday 9th January 2010

Nothing like a good hangover to start your three hour Greyhound coach journey to Noosa Heads!! We arrived in the blistering heat at the bus terminal which was conveniently opposite our YHA hostel, it was a beach resort that seemed quite hip and trendy with a parade of expensive restaurants and bars along the seafront! It was so hot we decided to just rest up and have a beach day today! There were plenty of people basking in the sun with lots of families enjoying the day out, there were naturally lots of locals about as it was the weekend - what a lifestyle!! I did have quite a few dips in the sea (without the sun glasses) and the waves were just as strong as in Byron. Our hostel was set amongst a woodland area so I didn't think I was going to get that great of a sleep as I was thinking about the snakes and spiders all the time but it was ok.

Waking up full of beans, we decided we would go bush walking in the Noosa National Park today. We picked the Tanglewood route going through the forest and back via the Coastal route. Altogether being around 7.5km. It was another boiling hot day. So we set off walking looking for Koalas, and other sorts of wildlife, praying we wouldn't see a spider or snake! There were lots of Bush Chickens 'Chooks' and lizards rattling about in the woodland, making us (me) jump. There were some brilliant views coming back via the Coast walk, 'Hells Gate' and Alexandra Bay were really nice spots. We made it back to the beach for about 2.30, totally worn out with all the hills and walking in the heat. But we decided to walk a further 20 minutes up a hill to Noosa Junction to stop in the Internet Café and pick up food from the Supermarket. We made dinner on return then headed to the beach for an evening rest people watching, finishing up their surf for the day! We watching one family for ages, they had 2 young boys that were absolutely full of energy, riding in on waves on their boogie boards, then running straight back out to catch another wave, continuous for about an hour, the parents were doing the same but swimming in with the waves every time! We then took a walk back to Noosa Junction about 8pm heading to the cinema, we fancied watching Avatar at the cinema this evening. What a brilliant film! Coming out of there after midnight, it felt weird we expected it to be freezing cold with a long walk back down the Bexleyheath Broadway!! We were a little scared walking back home actually, and not because of the crime, but of the snakes and spiders that may appear out of the woodland!!
