Day 24 Friday 2nd October 2009
Johno says:
Today we woke up ready for the next destination of Langkawi Island north of Malaysia and near to the border of Thailand. A quick and easy 40 minute flight into the Island’s airport see a massive difference from the major cities of Singapore and Kuala Lumpur (Jeeees sorry - I am starting to sound like a travel brochure…!) Mind, some could say I am like Judith Chamers with the amount of destinations under my belt this year - wish you were here! Anyway, we landed and jumped into a cab to the main beach resort of Cenang Beach where we sheltered with our rucksacks in the nearest hotel as it was so hot which ended up being our place to stay after Stacey had checked out the competition all the way down the road… for a tenner each we opened up a chalet which overlooked the sea!! Unbelievable view! This was the Malaysia we were hoping to see and this was our first beach resort (hopefully of many!) After some lunch and a walk around, and Stacey’s extended walk to some clothes shops - yes, they have a Langkawi version of Oasis here - we freshened up (Stace nursed her sunburn through the factor 50!) and got some beers/Malibu and wines at a Reggae bar on the beach and cracked on until late.
Day 25 Saturday 3rd October 2009
Stacey says:
Weather wasn’t so sunny, so was lucky we had decided to hire out a car today and drive around the island. Possibly the smallest car in the world! Our first destination was the largest waterfall in Langkawi. Then I took over the driving from here, first time driving without an instructor!! There wasn’t many cars on the road, so couldn’t go far wrong! Then headed for the Crocodile farm, via every nook and cranny along the way, the scenic route passing through every hotel resort car park, golf club, dead end possible. We made it in good time to the Croc farm for feeding and a show, we watched the man wave his fist in the crocs mouth and a few a other tricks. Was pretty fun. Then Steve took over the car as we weren’t getting anywhere fast with me driving at 60km/h, we went to Kuah town and had some lunch/dinner. Back to Cenang, booked our transfer to Phuket, finished up in Chill out bar for some beers and cocktails. As you do on a Saturday night!!
