Day 21 Tuesday 29th September 2009

Now decisions decisions, is it the bus for 6 hours or a 45 minute plane journey courtesy of Air Asia based on what seemed to be similar in price - Mmmm now that would seem a very easy decision for everyone back home. But after a night sleeping on it we decided that it would be well lazy of us to take the plane so we set about our journey to the bus station. A thirty minute very hot walk to Beach Road later we bargained a 28 dollar VIP bus ticket to Kuala Lumpur leaving at 2.30pm, compared to a plane ticket cost of 54 dollars - cushty! This bus was again was a far shout from what was experienced in Africa!! Business class seats with a complimentary bottle of water. Arrived there and dived into a restaurant next door which interestingly didn't serve alcohol (Muslim district) which was well needed by now.. Dammit!! Bottle of apple juice that looked like a beer bottle it was for me…! Stace tucked into someone's squid rather than the chicken dish that she had ordered…we did get the Chicken dish eventually but of course after she had semi demolished the squid! Citrus Hotel to sleep for 3 nights.

We set about seeing the sights of Kuala Lumpur today, we took the MonoRail to Central, and bumped into two Americans who handed us a Hop Off/On tour bus ticket which they were finished with. Very handy! The Petronas Towers, the KL Tower, which had some dismal complimentary add ons, but we did them anyway: F1 experience, which was sitting in a plastic F1 car and played an arcade race game, a pony ride which I was just under the maximum weight enough to take a ride, so two laps around the stall I went, lasted 20 seconds, and Animal Zone, which was the best out of the 3. Held a monkey for the first time! Then finally got around to going up the KL tower, where you can view the sights of Kuala Lumpur from 421m. Stopped for some lunch, after which Steve got bombarded with some massage offers, so he took them up 45 minute full body massage for 7 pounds. I've not been overly enthused by Kuala Lumpur so far actually… !

After sleeping 45 minutes past the alarm clock, (wanting to set off early today) we got some laundry done, all back washed and ironed J , and headed off to Sunway Lagoon. We travelled by the train today, which is a bit of an awkward system, you buy a ticket, take your train, which is fine, but once you need to change line, you need exit the station, walk about 5 minutes to the next connecting station via overpasses which have hundreds of steps, queue up and buy a new ticket, and start your journey on the next line. Grump grump! Haha. Once we arrived, we ventured into the amusement park first, which was OK, I was a little relieved it was just small rides, I thought they rattled and cranked a little too much for my liking!! (I'm a bit of a scaredy cat on rides!!) Then headed to 'Scream Park' which was pretty good fun. You are guided around a place which is in pitch black, and are told 'not to touch the ghosts and they won't touch you' I was at the front of the line, so I was getting everything jumping at me first, they are actually people jumping out at you, and screaming in your face! So I slipped into 2nd place, but it lasted about 20 minutes and was a giggle. Then had a splish splash in the water park. Just back from having some dinner, 2 pounds for the meal and drink!!!
