The trip continues to amaze us with the most picturesque scenery and amazing views of mountains, streams and deep gulleys.
We are now in Wanganui and Tony and I have just climbed 174 steps up into a tower to get the best view of the Wanganui township. It left us breathless - literally! The scenery was good too.
Yesterday morning we woke up to the most spectecular view. We had camped at the vistors centre on Mr Egmont - a volcano that hasn't errupted for 250 years - due to blow in about 50 years time so the experts say. Anyway the sky was clear and we could see to the summit which was covered in snow. It was amazing. See the album to see some of the great photos we took. The one on this page was taken from a lake to the north of the mountain and just as fantastic.
A couple of days ago we travelled down the Forgotten Highway and we know the reason why. Not many people travel on it as it is very steep and extremely windy. We happen to run into a couple of students from Hamiton University and we mentioned we had been on this highway and they said wow, we have only been on it by mistake. Says something, doesn't it.
We went into the Waitimo Glow worms caves. They were fantastic when you know that the worm makes a very thin sticky trail that hangs from the roof of the cave and it glows to attract its food. There are thousands of them and leaving you in awe.
THe album will certainly give you a better picture of what we have been seeing.
