Today we woke up to the sun streaming through the windows and lovely blue skies. Yesterday was a grey overcast day again but it certainly wasn’t cold. Whilst doing my walking round the prom deck in the morning I had to take my jacket off as it was so warm. I also had my first sighting of dolphins which was beautiful. Went to the first lecture of Mark Labetts ( The Beast off The Chase) but he keeps himself well hidden as no one see him round the ship much.
A normal sea day followed and yesterday evening was the Captains Welcome on Board party and our first formal night. All was well up until about 5pm when we were getting ready. I suddenly noticed that the ship on the tv screen map turned towards the land instead of straight down. The wind got up really bad and our speed went up to over 20 knots. We were staggering about a bit trying to get ready and then the Captain made the announcement that we’ve got a medical emergency and need to get in to land ASAP. All the sudden movement on the ship made me feel ill so went to the party then missed dinner as had to go back to the cabin and lie down.
Hopefully the poor person who was very ill is ok. We dropped them off at just gone midnight then carried on our way. Obviously this has put our time back even further after the delay in Southampton.
Today though is totally different with calm seas, sunshine and blue skies. Sat out in the warmish sunshine on our balcony and read all morning and went to quoits in the afternoon. Captains says we will still be going to Madeira tomorrow even after all the delays but will be arriving slightly later than planned. No tours have been cancelled which is good.
The rest of the day consisted of quoits, dinner then the second show of The Runaround Kids who were once again excellent. They had a standing ovation at the end. Phil entered in to the game show Pointless but got knocked out in the second round and I managed to get my photo with The Beast, Mark Labett.
We were due in to Madeira at 9am but it will now be slightly later at 10.30am so really not too bad at all considering.
