April's Travels
Set off early in the morning for Wai O Tapu which is a geothermal natural area. Basically a national park with lots of smouldering pools, steam and gas billowing from the ground and pretty colours from all the different minerals. We made it there for 10.15 to see a conical shaped rock called the Geysa (Giza) errupt hot water 15 metres in the air. The guy did it by pouring soap powder into it, apparently mother nature needed a helping hand hmmmmm.
Afterwards we walked around the park which was really cool. It was a crisp sunny day which made it even better. The pictures are pretty self explanatory. Kind of feel like you could be on the moon in parts because of all the steamy craters. It looks icy but it's bubbling hot.
About lunch time we set off for Tapoe. We got there in good time, checked into the hostel and went for a shop. I am now the 'proud' owner of a pair of long johns. I look hot in them!!! (Ok it's debateable). Am thinking they'll come in handy if we get to do the sky dive because it will be FREEZING up there. We were booked in for 1pm today but it was cancelled 10 mins before due to the cloud. Hopefully we'll get to do it tomorrow but the weather report is not good, so fingers crossed!!
Will keep you posted on our antics, lots of love.
