After a 16 hour bus journey we arrived in Sydney and headed to Kings Cross to our hostel Jolly Swagmans. Kings Cross is a mix of London's Kings Cross, Amsterdam's red light district and a mental hospital so we were not overly happy to stay around this area for too long! After cleaning up we went for a walk around Sydney to gather our bearings. The first person we saw was a 6 foot 5 silver dreadlocked transvestite! We finally found a few nice places in a much nicer area and booked somewhere for after we checked out of Kings Cross. We spent the evening chilling in our hostel before heading out around midnight to watch Man U beat Liverpool in the F.A Cup.
The next day we headed to Sydney's Botanical Gardens to chill in the park all day. Unfortunately as we arrived it chucked it down. This lasted only five minutes meaning we could stay out but could not sit on the now soaking benches or grass. We saw lots of animals in the gardens including hundreds of bats who were sleeping in the trees above us. From here we went to the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge before heading back to our hostel. After moving in to our new hostel (BIG hostel) we headed to Bondi Beach spending the day lounging on the sand and getting thrown around by the waves. The next day we went to the Sydney Olympic Stadium for the Medibank Tennis Open where we saw a men's singles match and two women's doubles. In between matches we walked around the stadiums and got lots of freebies, visiting also the tennis museum were we got to play Wii Tennis were Antonio dominated!
On Friday the 14th we had tickets to the Sydney Opera house to go and see Le Grand Cirque Adrenaline. It included Gymnastics, acrobats, motorbikes and much more and was a sensational show. The next evening we met up with Chris and Kirsty and some of their friends, all of us going to the Domain Park to see Los Lobos (the people that sung La Bamba). The park was packed and the music was great and when they played La Bamba (the only song we actually knew) everyone got up and danced. On our final full day in oz, we went to Palm Beach (a.k.a Summer Bay) for the day where Home and Away is filmed. We saw the surf club and beach area where they film, unfortunately they weren't filming there that day. The waves were huge on the beach and dragged you in and out, Antonio had lots of fun playing in them. On our final day in oz we checked out and enjoyed the last of Sydney before heading to the Airport to fly to our next country New Zealand.
