Travelled to Erfurt to stay in the Augustinian Monastery (pictured) where Luther studied and was ordained as a monk.

Erfurt is a lively little medieval town, with many many bars cafés shops and restaurants, not unlike a smaller version of Prague. Beautiful buildings and streets of character abound.

After lunch we took a tram to the hills overlooking Dresden, to find some 'schlosses', lovely scenery and walk in surrounding gardens. A pilsener is goes down well with the walk.

An evening stroll into town let us see the marvelous buildings lit at night.

Frauenkirche, Dresden. Built 1700s destroyed in war Feb 16 in fire , not bombing, Rebuilt 1995- 2004, with 40% original materials. 5 levels with individual booths that could be rented. 3 hour services past times. The church is part of the league of churches around the world with the nail crosses from Coventry after that city had been bombed, (as with the Reconciliation Church at Dachau we visited).
