Neuensdetteslau, Germany Jul 9, 2014 Cold and wet in Rothenberg, but it was a lovely day, walking the streets and also walking on the surrounding walls and ramparts.
Neuensdetteslau, Germany Jul 9, 2014 Travelled by train to Rothenberg. Great old town, beautiful cobble stoned streets and buildings from centuries past. Huge Lutheran cathedral, like none we'd ever seen before, as it was 13th century gothic style, that was converted from catholic after reformation. Amazing Christmas shop that needed a hour just to walk around!
Neuensdetteslau, Germany Jul 8, 2014 Castle Neushwanstein. After Dachau we travelled 2 hours through the beautiful Bavarian countryside to this amazing 'disney' castle. It was raining, but that did not stop the incredible sites of the castle in the mountains, and the sites over the valley from the castle. Our pictures do not do justice, to this castle built in the 1870s.
Neuensdetteslau, Germany Jul 8, 2014 Dachau, early start and spent the morning at Dachau concentration camp. It was all you would expect it to be; a dramatic, confronting, emotional, learning experience. We finished with a service of reconciliation in the Protestant chapel. Picture shows Kathy lighting and placing a candle of remembrance and reconciliation on the altar.
