Notre Dame, Amiens. Greater floor space and taller than the Paris version. So impressive for buildings built in the 1200s. They had 'competitions' to see whose is biggest and best to bring renown and prestige to the towns.

Drove from Paris, through beautiful French countryside to Albert via Amiens. It has been a typical day for us, very cold on the morning, turning into a beautiful sunny day by 2pm ish. Had a nice little stay in Amiens visiting Notre Dame Cathedral, lunch and shops. Quite nice, but not quite the character of Ieper and Brugge.

After a boat ride along the Seine accompanied by a very noisy group of youths from another European country ((Dutch?) we took the metro back to the hotel. We were getting quite proficient at this now after a few days practice. A most interesting thing on the cruise was the displeasure the rowdy youths caused with a couple other passengers which ended up in a bit of push and shove as they left the boat. Yes, we are here, after a great ride in peak hour on the Metro. No place to be timid, just barge on. The to ET to be there for our reservation at 9.30am. We waited, and waited, and got colder and colder, and still we waited. No information given, probably some security thing. Then finally into ET at 11.45. Lovely clear sights.

Took a bus ride to the suburbs, the the music history museum. Wandered around, amazing array of historical instruments, as per picture.
