Day 118 -
We reluctantly left Dalat today to continue north to the next town, Nha Trang.
We got another sleeper bus which travelled through the day and took a few hours.
Once we arrived, the bus stopped outside another guesthouse which was part of the same country and again this place did us just fine. Not as nice a room as in Dalat but still it was clean and would do for the next couple of nights.
Nha Trang is famous for its lovely beaches so the first thing we did was head straight there. Unfortunately for us the weather just wasn't good enough to lie on the beach and certainly it wasn't good enough to go in the sea. It was really windy and dull outside and looked like it was going to rain (later on and the remaining time in Vietnam it absolutely lashed it down!). Because of the wind, the waves were really big so we stopped and watched them for a while. It was quite amazing to see, they were absolutely huge!
We talk a little walk down the promenade and hoped that tomorrow would bring better weather for us!
We didn't do much at night, we had been warned not to go out at night time as there was a lot of crime here, especially muggings and pickpockets so we just grabbed something to eat, had a few drinks and headed back to the hotel for a quiet night in.
Day 119 -
Well the weather certainly wasn't in our favour today, we woke up to heavy rain and strong winds. The beach was not on the cards but luckily we didn't have to spend the day stuck in doors, Nha Trang has a part indoor, part outdoor theme park on an island just off the coast called Vin Pearl.
To get there it cost about GBP20.00 this included travel costs on the cable car across the sea to the island and admission to all of the rides.
We needed to get on the cable car point first and do this we had to jump on the back of two motorbikes driven by the hotel staff. We weren't bothered too much by this as it wasn't too far and we knew that the road taking you there was practically straight and smooth.
Well, after getting to the cable car both of us were shaking like sh*tting dogs!! Our drivers I think were in disguise and were really Evil Kinevil wannabes! Horrible! From that point onwards we promised each other that we were definitely not getting on the back of a motorbike again!
Anyway after getting our balance back we headed off to the cable car pick up. The journey took about 20 minutes and you went really high over the sea. If it hadn't of been so foggy you probably could have seen for a long waybut as it was well we couldn't.
Poor Anthony who isn't afraid of heights as such but more afraid that the cars might break didn't have a good journey really, there was a lot of heavy breathing going on and 'don't talk to me Kay, just let me get to the other side, PLEASE!'
Once we had disembarked the cable ride and walked into the park we realised that the rain was about ten times heavier than it had been and seeing as most of the good stuff was actually outside we ended up spending our day indoors in the arcade room!
We had a really funny day though, it felt like we were 10 again going on all off the shooting and racing games. Anth demonstrated what he's made of with the punch bag game, of course, and I managed to pull a muscle in my arm trying to show him how hard I can punch the bag...
We risked the water park too, we figured we were already wet. Only problem was that half the rides were shut due to the weather so it was a little boring.
They did have a monkey show on too which, as much as it is really cruel, was actually really good. The monkeys were so clever, riding round on little bicycles and skipping rope!
We had a few more games in the arcade after this then headed home in the pouring down rain.
After the cable car back across the sea (which Anth didn't enjoy one bit) we got a taxi home.
We decided to leave Nha Trang as the weather suggested that for at least the next 7 days it was just going to rain so we booked our bus for tomorrow to head to Hoi An.
