Edinburgh Fringe Festival!
The options so great, where do you start? Breakfast at Black Medicine in South Bridge, then a clever, poignant and fun one woman show on the life of Katherine Hepburn - sold out performance, and brilliant.
From there, to the Scottish National Gallery to see a magnificent exhibition of artworks by Peter Doig, still
alive, and the first major exhibition in Scotland where he was born in 1959. He grew up in Trinidad then Canada, studied art in London, and eventually returned to Trinidad in 2002 to live.
'No Foreign Lands' showcases works created during the past ten years, often of tropical subjects. These are paintings of intense colour on a monumental scale.
From the Gallery a brisk walk enjoying Edinburgh's architecture, to Botanical Gardens where, apart from the gardens themselves, the Barbara Hepworth sculptures are worth seeking out, the (assessed) fruit & vegetable plots by current Uni horticultural students are cool, the main building is modern, cleverly built into the landscape, and is set up with great event space.
Further hike back into the city, via a different route, then off to dinner with friends! Cool day. Love Edinburgh xx
